Code of Ordinances
The Henrico County Code is available on-line.
The on-line Code has been prepared by Municipal Code Corporation
which also maintains our hardcopy version. The following instructions
on how to use the on-line Code should help you find what you
need. You may want to print these out to keep handy if you're
new to using the on-line Code.
INSTRUCTIONS
If you wish, you can begin by visiting Municipal Code Corporation's
home page at http://www.municode.com.
From there, click the Resources tab at the top of the
page to reach the On-Line Library. The publications are accessed
by State. Henrico, of course, is under Virginia.
You can also go
directly to Henrico's Code by clicking this link.
There are two methods of finding information:
- Browsing: The Code's table of contents can be viewed in
the left hand window. Click on the yellow folder (expand)
symbol next to each heading to see greater levels of detail
in a desired Chapter or Article. Ultimately you will reach
the Section level. The text of the document appears in the
adjacent (document) window.
- Recently adopted ordinances: Since the
Code is supplemented only once a year,
the on-line version isn't always current.
To access recently adopted ordinances,
scroll to the bottom of the table of contents
window on the left side of the screen.
At the bottom, you will see "Ordinances
Enacted / Not Yet Codified." Click on
that link and list of those ordinances
will be displayed in the adjacent (document)
window.
- Searching: Type in the key word(s) of your search in the search window, then click on the [Search] button. A search will be performed and the number of 'hits' found will be displayed. You can expand the search hits and read their Code contents by clicking on them.
- For more detail on searching, click on the 'Help' tab at the top of the page.
